Larry "The Legend" Richmond

Larry Richmond was born in Brookline, Massachusetts and spent most of his childhood in the suburbs of Boston, except for a brief stint where he lived in New Jersey (although to this day he still denies his residence in "The Garbage State").  Larry played Soccer, Baseball and Basketball throughout high school.  A knee injury ended his athletic career, so he headed off to Liberty University, where he claims to have graduated in 1998 although this still is up for serious debate on the show.

Larry's broadcasting career began as an intern for The Sportsline, while still attending Liberty.  In addition to helping research show material, screening listener calls and helping to book guests for the show, Larry also did some live field reporting . . . including a little play by play live from the rehearsal for his wedding.  Larry earned the nickname "The Legend" in deference to his boyhood hero Larry Bird.  His nickname in no way, shape or form represents his adeptness in the marital bed, despite his boisterous claims.  Rich brought Larry on board as the co-host of The Sportsline in the summer of 1998 and the era of Double R and The Legend began.

Larry has played a key role in lining up the great list of guests that grace the airwaves of The Sportsline.  Since his days as an intern, The Legend has always had a knack for getting big time guests on the show, to provide a great balance with the Virginia and Virginia Tech Insiders who join Rich and Larry on the show, regularly covering the Hoos and the Hokies around the Commonwealth.

The Legend is known on the show for many things, his love of baseball and the Red Sox, his penchant for gambling and desire to someday be an oddsmaker, for wearing the skirt around his household and being at the beck and call of his wife Jessica . . . but Larry may be best well known for his now infamous guarantees.  The Legend has made quite a name for himself with these ill-fated guarantees.  Over the years, Larry has guaranteed many things, and virtually all have come up craps.  He spent 2 straight years guaranteeing losses for Pete Carroll's USC Trojans (Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and UCLA to name a few) each time missing the boat.  Larry finally came around, jumped on the USC bandwagon and guaranteed a USC victory over Texas in the 2006 Rose Bowl.  We all know how that worked out.  Bottom line on the Legend's guarantees . . . just hope he doesn't jinx your favorite team.

Larry is married to his wife Jessica, with 2 daughters Sydney and Laney.  "The Legend" was dubbed "a girl dad" by Double R long ago ... and once again Rich was right.  In an effort to avoid drowning in Estrogen by having another daugther or two, Larry got a Vasectomy (which was covered live on the air by The Comrade) ... although Rich and many others claim that Jessica has kept Larry's 'jewels' in her purse since before they were even married.
