Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... the magic number 69 days and counting ... but R&R come out of the box today following up on the story that had some folks talking last week, and that's Michael Vick's $10,000 donation to the victims in the VT Massacre last week. Ron Mexico is not getting much love either when it comes to the poll question. It must be April ... since Larry, Bluetooth and the rest of BoSox fans everywhere are estatic about Boston's weekend series sweep of the Yankees. All is right in RedSox nation ... despite RR pointing out that the Sox did the same thing early last year and wound up out of the playoff picture with their last series against NY meaning absolutely nothing. Up next on the show ... a little NFL Draft talk, as R&R were joined by former player personnel director for the Dallas Cowboys, Gil Brandt, who is now one of the lead analysts for NFL.com. Gil talked about there being a bit of a dropoff after the top 8 players ... said he has Brady Quinn rated ahead of JaMarcus Russell as a result of way more playing experience ... and also had some great things to say about Matt Schaub. Gary also called in to wonder what ever happened to Troy Smith. The answer is easy ... did you see the national championship game? Sportsline Historian Wesley Q. May checked in with This Day in Sportsline History. After taking a few shots at Larry for yet another shopping excursion at the outlets in Williamsburg this past weekend, he pointed out that back in 2001, The Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase was a guest on the show. More talk on the RedSox and Yankees as Double R gets on both Larry and Bluetooth for not being true Sox fans. Larry had no idea why the Sox wore green jerseys on Friday ... and Bluetooth claimed to be a diehard fan ... though he has never seen a game at Fenway Park. Carl from Harrisonburg called in to point out that the experience at Fenway is overrated, as it is actually a tough place to watch a game. Larry ripped Carl for sounding like his wife ... and even Double R had to come to the defense of Fenway here ... talking about the Sausage and Pepper heros that you buy from the vendors outside of the ballpark. Larry gets to hear the Alec Baldwin voicemail message to his 11 year old daughter for the first time on the air. Wow ... what a great dad huh? Makes Rich look like the father of the year. R&R also get to NASCAR Fantasy standings and announce that 5 teams have made the Chase in Season 1. Dennis Carter and the ABC 13 team are one of only 2 teams left out ... which is a huge surprise to all involved. Finally ... Jim Callis of Baseball America takes a few minutes for the guys to wrap up the show. Callis said that its way to early to get excited about the sweep ... and too early to count the Yankees out. He did however proceed to rip Joe Torre's game management this early in the season, wondering why he is trying to tire out all of his top pitchers.
