John Feinstein, Hank Gola and the Legend of FIGJAM
Wednesday, 04 April 2007

Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 88 days and counting, but today R&R shift the focus of the show from college hoops and the NCAA Tournament to the Masters ... including The Sportsline's Online Masters Pool in which you can win free greens fees to Poplar Grove Golf Club.

Sportsline Historian Wesley Q. May checked in with 'This Day in Sportsline History', reflecting back one year ago to the day ... when Double R allegedly tripped a nun in a local restaurant and then copped a feel while trying to catch her.  Rich tried to back track out of this embarrassing situation hoping Bluetooth would come to the rescue ... but alas he just looked even more dispicable trying to blame the nun.

Noted author and columnist John Feinstein dropped by the show live from Augusta to recap the Final Four and preview the Masters.  Feinstein was on board with Rich being disappointed in the games which this year's final four produced and joined in the conversation on Billy Donovan saying that he feels that Donovan will only leave Florida for an NBA job.  The big story at this year's Masters other than Phil and Tiger is Arnold Palmer agreeing to hit out the ceremonial first ball.  Rich and Larry then spent more time on the Donovan Debate ... with Double R looking at the Kentucky job as a real possibility for Donovan while Larry said no chance.

NCAA referee Karl Hess joined R&R to kickoff hour number two ... just a couple of days after calling the championship game on Monday night.  Karl talked about different officials calling games differently, thus some games are called tighter than others.  He also talked about the importance of having played college ball at Liberty and that giving him and other refs a different perspective on the game.  Karl also shared some fun stories from refereeing career ...

Up next, the sportsline poll question on FIGJAM and what FIGJAM stands for ... thanks to a GQ article just a few days ago.  Hank Gola of the NY Daily News drops by from Evans, Ga after already leaving the course.  Hank offered up some gardening tips used by the folks from Augusta ... icing the azaela's to keep them from blooming too early.  Hank also picked Tiger to win fairly easily and said that he didn't expect a Tiger-FIGJAM showdown and doesn't think any of the big challengers to be able to stand up to Tiger.
