Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 73 days and counting ... and lots going on during today's show ... including live updates from the Luscious Lil, who is live at the service for VT at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg with several thousand folks in attendance. Duke Grant, the VP of the Central Virginia chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, was instrumental in organizing the service, he also checked in on the show and reminded folks to wear their maroon and orange in support of the Hokies on Friday. ESPN NBA play by play man Mark Jones dropped by the show to preview the NBA playoffs. Larry mentioned the re-emergence of the GS Warriors to the playoff picture after more than a 12 year hiatus. That led to RR's quick trivia question of who were the 3 member of "Run TMC" back when the Warriors were contenders. Larry came up with Tim Hardaway and Chris Mullin, but couldn't remember Mitch Richmond. Jones looks for LeBron to have a breakout game at some point, reminiscent of MJ going for 63 against the Celts in playoff game early in his career. Jones picked the Spurs to meet the Mavs in the West, and the Mavs to beat the Pistons in the NBA Finals. After Lil checks in one final time from the Service for VT, R&R hook up with PGA Tour Pro John Rollins, who is a Virginia guy, and played his college golf at VCU. Rollins talked about being off to a great start this year (yeah ... 1.8 million in the bank already) though he cautioned that it can go as easily as it seemed to come for him. He talked about the importance of having a mental coach, as he is trying to step up his game in the majors ... and is anxious to break through with his 3rd win of his career and first this season, sooner rather than later. This day in Sportsline History featured the beginning of what could have been a fun drinking contest between Drunk Dave and Drunk David. The winner would get to keep his name on the show ... but the Comrade, always the conscience of the show ... kind of put a stop to it considering the possible ramifications if something went wrong. But really ... what could go wrong with a drinking contest between a couple of listeners ... huh? Danny Rocco, HC of Liberty continued The Sportsline's preview of spring football around the Commonwealth. Rocco likes the improvement his team has made over the last year as he feels they have a better attitude and are more capable of winning. RR called Rocco on his "we are what we are" comment ... wondering how many more Al Groh-isms we are going to hear. Larry then jumped in and started grilling Rocco about the kicking game of LU ... and the teams ability to finish off games.
