Segment 1: Larry away, Rich and Jerod. Preview of rest of show. Last week of NFL season not as exciting as it usually is because most of the playoff picture is already set. Rich wants Jets to lose final game for a variety of reasons, none of them particularly realistic. Also, Rich wants to ban kickers from the NFL.
Segment 2: Jeff White, joins us from the Richmond Times Dispatch. Chris Cook not eligible for Gator Bowl, tough break against a big throwing team. UVA great against the run, not so great in coverage. UVA is excited about this bowl game. Jeff picks Texas Tech to win it, but not willing to bet the proverbial farm.
Segment 3: Redskins play by play guy Larry Michael joins us. How the Skins got a chance to get into the playoffs. Death of Sean Taylor hit everyone hard, Michael included. Todd Collins -- he sat for ten years, so he's "fresh". Yeah, they're playing the Cowboys, but lots of Cowboys are going to sit. Larry really impressed by Joe Gibbs this year.
Segment 4: Sportsline Historian Wesley Q calls in with a 2007 wrap up. Some interesting factoids on our total number of shows, guests, most frequent guests.
Segment 5: Mac McDonald wishes us a happy holidays, talks about this game "Basketball on Grass". The challenges of preparing for a team that throws 67 times per game. Mac picks UVA to win a high scoring game, believes that UVA can put up enough points to keep pace with the Red Raiders. This really is a special year for UVA. Mac also discusses the aftermath of his "institutional advantages" comment, regarding VT.
Segment 6: Champ Sports bowl update. What if Matt Ryan actually had someone to throw to?
Segment 7: Hank Gola from the NY Daily News. Hank agrees that he has sort of turned into a Pats beat writer. Hank doesn't despise Coach Bill, though he can understand why others might. Preview of Giants/Pats. Hank figures the second half of this game may look like a preseason game, with so many starters sitting. What it takes for a team to beat the Pats. Can the Giants do these things? OF COURSE NOT. Jags and Colts might have a chance against Pats in playoffs.
Segment 8: Rich likes Groh's preparation for UVA's bowl games, but thinks the Red Raiders will be too much for the Hokies. Jerod agrees. Happy New Year!
