Tuesday on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... the talk at the top of the show centers around the great MNF game last night between the Patsies and the Ravens. They got into the emotional outburst by Scott heaving the penalty flag towards the crowd after the TD to give the Pats the win. Callers also jumped in ... Tim pointed out that this one can be called "*2" for the phantom pass interference call that extended the Pats drive. Wes also checked in with a history moment, flashing back several years to when the annual Christmas Open House took place ... and Double R was encouraged to drink with clients prior to the show. Those were the days. Ian Eagle of CBS Sports checked in to talk some football. Before getting into the Redskins game that he broadcast last weekend against the Bills ... Eagle touched on the pathetic Miami Dolphins, who he will be seeing this weekend. They are a bad team ... and Eagle is amazed that they are so bad that it motivates opponents to get up for them ... almost like the Pats, because noone wants to be the team that loses to the Dolphins. Ian also talked about the emotion at FedEx field following the death of Sean Taylor, and the video that had an impact on him. He was disappointed like most that the game ended how it did ... with the Joe Gibbs screw up ... although he feels that the FG would have been good from 51 anyway the way Lindell is kicking it. Rich and Larry hit on a number of topics this next segment, including updating folks on the Pigskin Pick'em ... scoring updates on the Carolina game ... the NFL and some of the broadcasting decisions that they make including why the Pats-Steelers is not the Sunday Night Game this week ... as well as Larry requesting time off this week to take a shopping trip to the outlets. Larry points out that the Jets and Dolphins are the only two teams mathematically eliminated from the playoff picture ... and RR points out that if the Jets were in the NFC they would still be very much in the hunt. The guys next play a recorded interview with Adrian Joseph of the UVA hoops squad as the Cavs get ready for Syracuse on Wednesday. Joseph says that despite the success of last year, Leitao has not let up on them ... and that the young guys are really stepping up well, at least in the early going to keep the team rolling. NCAA tourney is the goal this year and every year. |
