Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 149 days and counting. The Cavs came through with a big overtime win over Dook as the crowd went nuts in Charlottesville. Jeff White of the Richmond Times Dispatch dropped by the show to recap it. He cautioned UVa fans (and Rich) about jumping on the band wagon too hard ... as the ACC seems somewhat average this year. Uva can look great when playing well ... but he warned that Puerto Rico was not that long ago. Rich also took the opportuninty to announce that he dislikes Greg Paulus even more than JJ Redick. He reasoned that at least Redick could back up his punkish attitude on the court. Double R also enraged Larry by comparing JJ to Tom Brady. He believes that both players are good but not great players, and are both products of the system that they played in. Dook set up their offense to totally cater to Redick while Brady just happened to excel in the Pats system that Charlie Weis created. Dan Beyer checked in for the final time this week from Miami. Again ... not a whole lot going on as both teams are very well behaved. How Boring! So R&R and Beyer talked a little more Seinfeld before Beyer picked the Colts to win. In hour 2 ... its a Superbowl caliber Fantasy Friday. A double dip that would make all guys proud. Ines Sainz ... the sultry Spanish Reporter for TV Aztecha in Mexico who was the star of media day on Tuesday. Parading around in a skimpy little outfit, Sainz had the attention of the media and players alike. She talked with Rich and Larry about all of the attention, and how she planned on capitalizing on it. Speaking of capitalizing on attention, Heather Rothstein certainly did. She was the Saints fan that Fox catpured on TV during the Divisional playoffs wearing the half shirt that read "Fuck Da Eagles". Heather said that the very next day, Maxim was calling and it didn't take long to set up the Maxim photo spread. Heather said that she typically doesn't drink before games, but she happened to for the Eagles game ... wound up getting the T-shirt on the way to the game, and it was the best drunk decision she ever made. Next ... R&R welcomed a new sponsor to the show and debuted the commercial for Brady Loob. I think Double R is still laughing ... as he and Larry heard it for the first time along with the listeners. The Comrade deserves bigtime kudos for another job well done with this "ad". Finally, it came time to make Superbowl picks, which were certainly going to come as no surprise. Rich talked about the Colts having the running and passing dimensions which he felt would allow them to put up too many points for the Bears to keep up. He expected them to win comfortably, and possibly even blow it open in the first half. Larry had been talking about Ricky Manning as a difference maker for almost two weeks, and to his credit he didn't back off. Once again ... Larry was kind of cornered by Double R and the Comrade and made another Larry the Legend Guarantee, just before the show went off the air. Chicago Bears, Superbowl XLI Champs ... the Legend Guaranteed it. We shall see. |
