Eric Montross, Mac McDonald ... UVa on top of the ACC for good? & Rock Star Supernova
Tuesday, 06 February 2007

Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry, 145 days and counting.

The guys started out talking more Superbowl but somehow were quickly diverted into a conversation about Rockstar Supernova.  The Comrade was quick to chime in calling the show a joke, as well as the original show Rockstar INXS ... claiming that the band is nothing without lead singer Michael Hutchence and that the band was just trying to make a quick buck with a reality show ... rather than truly finding a new lead singer. He felt that without Hutchence the band was nothing, to which RR asked if the same would be true for all bands ... like Van Halen for example.  Rich determined that the Comrade feels like he should be the final judge in determing what the standards should be for everyone ... typical democrat huh?  A caller pointed out that "Van Halen kicks ass" which really didn't add much to the discussion ... though it was certainly worth noting.

Former UNC all-American Eric Montross dropped by the show to preview Wednesday's showdown in Durham with Dook.  Montross is now the color analyst for the Tarheel Sports Network and talked about how great the rivalry with Dook is ... and how the media hype and buildup has made the game even more of an event than it was when he played back in the early 90's.  Much to Rich's dismay, Montross praised the Cameron Crazies ... and talked about how much he loved playing in hostile enviroments.

Larry tried to tempt Rich into contributing more $$$ to the "Brady is Gay" jar by unveiling a picture he discovered online of Tom Brady and ARod standing side by side. Double R couldn't resist and wound up kicking a buck into the jar ... but certainly gave Larry credit for bringing the picture to the table.  Larry called Brady a man's man ... which he quickly regretted.

Mac McDonald, voice of the Cavs dropped by from the Comcast Center to preview UVA and Maryland. Mac talked about Dave Leitao and his mantra with the team.  "To love you is to challenge you" and boy does he love his team.  Players are really buying into this and love playing for coach Leitao.  Mac mentioned the Cavs 'swagger' heading into Maryland ... and said he would take 10-6 in the ACC right now.

Rich and Larry continued breaking down the ACC for the remainder of the show. UVa is in the driver's seat with a pretty easy schedule coming down the stretch.  Larry said that UVa is a legit contender for the ACC crown ... and after looking over everyone else's schedule, Rich reluctantly agreed.  Double R really likes Leitao and the Cavs backcourt ... but feels they are still vulnerable to a poor shooting night or three and may not be quite as good as they are playing now.  The guys also noted that Dook is on the ropes, with a tough remaining schedule.  Might they not even make the big dance?

R&R also got into Larry's track record on guarantees.  Let's just say its not real good.
