Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 130 days and counting ... plus they got to open The Sportsline Time Capsule ... left by historian Wesley May. In it ... from back in 2003 ... the first 2 contributions to the now defunct BOG (Buy Out Gillen) Fund. The first made by Lauren on 2/21/03 and the second made by Psycho Dale. Those were the days. R&R also announced that the show is now available through podcast on sportslineradio.com Up next live from Blacksburg was David Teel, the great columnist from the Newport News Daily Press. David agreed with Rich that this year, more than previous, matchups seem to be the big factor in the ACC ... even moreso than homecourt advantage. Teel said its still a little early to be thinking about seeds for the Hoos and Hokies ... but that obviously both have overacheived his expectations to this point. Teel felt that VT would lose to BC and that UVa would probably lose one more game along the way ... but that even should they win or share the ACC regular season title ... its no big deal anymore. Jeff Burton, fresh off his 3rd place finish in the Daytona 500 joined Rich and Larry next on the show. He talked at length about the end of the race and felt that NASCAR did the right thing in letting the guys race to the finish. He said that it was a split second decision that the officials needed to make in throwing the yellow flag ... and since everyone was all bunched up ... that a yellow flag would not have made any difference at all when it came to driver safety. Jeff also talked about the committment and preparation everyone at RCR put in during the off season, and that he hopes the loss of his jackman will not hurt the team too much. After talking some ACC hoops, R&R jumped into updating the standings in The Sportsline Nascar Fantasy League, presented by ABC 13 WSET. Chris Wallace of CavsCorner.com dropped by to talk a little UVA hoops. Had some fun looking back on the Pete Gillen era while discussing whether or not the Cavs would hang a banner at JPJ for winning the ACC regular season. Barring something disatrous ... Wallace agreed that UVA should beat Miami down in FLA tonite. Jimmy Robertson of the Hokie Huddler dropped by live from Cassell Coliseum as the first half of Tech-BC was ending. He talked about the up and down year for the Hokies and the way Seth Greenberg has chosen to support the team after a bad loss down in Raleigh rather than rip them to shreds. Michael checked in on the phones during the final minutes of the show claiming that noone should celebrate winning the ACC regular season and ripped Roy and the Tarheels for doing so last year. Rich wasn't thrilled with the Carolina bashing going on ... and while admitting that winning the ACC regular season isn't as important as it once was ... it is still a noteworthy feat worth celebrating.
