No James Hylton (thanks again Bluetooth), MS. Lee Spencer, Blaine Taylor & a Valentine's Day Debacle
Thursday, 15 February 2007

Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 135 days and counting.

Today's show opened up with with a little discussion on the qualifying process for the Daytona 500.  R&R who obviously are not big NASCAR fans, and were bitching about the large number of ways drivers can get into the Great Amercian Race.  Bud Shootouts, Dual 150's, qualifying times, owners points and past champions exemptions.  According to Rich and Larry its just too complicated except for the hardcore NASCAR fan ... which apparently Mr. Ass is not as he admitted to not knowing the deal either.  Sportsline listener Richard checked in to explain it ... but R&R weren't really interested in the details.

Rich then relayed the story of his Valentine's Day failures on the homefront. No gift for his wife (except a free DVD of The S factor stripping workout which was clearly more of a gift for him than her), and he had a card, but didn't even take the time to fill it out.  He topped it off by telling her that after 6 years of marriage and 2 kids, "the romance is gone ... its all about the kids now" to help explain his lack of effort for Valentine's Day.  Nice Job Rich ... real smooth.  Some listeners chimed in playing amateur psychologist thinking RR might have a self-esteem problem.  Could be huh? Larry's sister leaves a scathing message on his cell phone during the break ... ripping RR for V-Day.  The message gets played on the air later in the show.

Up next it was the second go-round of 'Stump The Sportsline' for the final spot in The Sportsline Nascar Fantasy League.   R&R actually answered some of the questions correctly this time ... but they were stumped a few times.  The final caller of the evening David, wound up winning the contest and a spot in Season 1.

Lee Spencer of The Sporting News joined R&R live from Daytona immediately following the Duel 150's.  Lee of course is a woman ... although when booking her for the show Mr. Ass didn't know this ... and asked for MR. Spencer.  Nice job ASS.  R&R spoke with Lee for a few minutes as time was short and Lee had some trouble hearing with all of the noise from the track.  One thing Lee did comment on was the light penalty NASCAR slapped Michael Waltrip with after he cheated while trying to qualify for the 500.  She said that NASCAR at some point needs to buckle down and not play favorites if it wants some respect and credibility.

Next up on the show was Blaine Taylor, head coach of ODU who was getting ready for a showdown with Toledo during Bracket Buster weekend.  ODU is having another strong season, after making a run to the NIT final four last year and the NCAA two years ago.
