Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 143 Days and counting ... but there is much more to talk about today than Tom Brady's Gay-ness. Rumor has it that he is going to be mentioned as a love interest in John Amaechi's new book 'Man in the Middle'. Carolina gets a big win in Durham over Dook, the Cowboys hired a new coach in Wade Phillips which Rich just laughed at ... plus, the blizzard of '07 shut down schools across the state with record snowfalls of almost 2 inches. Rich and Larry had some fun at the expense of Amherst Schools Superintendant John Walker ... who is always a good sport when it comes to school closings. Sean Singletary, star guard for the Cavaliers dropped by the show. He talked about making that final shot against Dook ... said it was the biggest shot of his career, although his mother might disagree. He also talked about the leadership that several players including himself and JR showed leading up to this great run the Cavs are currently on. Rich asked Sean to compare Pete Gillen to Dave Leitao, and Sean said the big difference was the sense of family that now is a big part of the Virginia basketball program and the fact that the Cavs are definitely buying into Dave Leitao. Up next was former Cavalier Curtis Staples. Curtis is breaking into the role of TV analyst with Raycom and dropped by to talk about the upcoming Hokies - Cavs game. Curtis talked about the great roll UVa is on right now ... and mentioned a lot of the same things that Sean Singletary talked about. The sense of family was huge to Curtis as well ... saying that under coach Leitao, former players feel more welcome as part of the program and family ... and he feels that this translates to a big positive for the current team as well. Staples picked UVa to knock off VT on Saturday although he likes both teams and expects them both to finish the season strong. Big show tonite was capped off by the first appearance of the season by Tech coach Seth Greenberg. Greenberg said he was looking forward to playing 'the hottest team in the ACC' in Virginia this weekend. He also commented on the possibility that early in the year, some of his players might have begun to believe the hype about how good they were and let some outsiders get into their head about needing to get more shots and looks on an individual level. Greenberg also described Coleman Collins play as disappointing, and thinks the team will finish strong. R&R finished the show talking more about the Cowboys coaching situation. Larry thinks Phillips can be a servicable but not a great one ... while Rich thinks the whole thing will crash and burn within 3 years. Rich pointed out that Larry was using RR's logic on the whole coaching search ... which freaked Larry out bigtime. |
