Its All About Joe Gibbs Retirement - Mark Rypien, Sam Huff, Duce, Rye-O & The Staff are Idiots
Tuesday, 08 January 2008
Segment 1:
To start off the show, Double R and Larry get right into the news of Joe Gibbs retiring for the second time in his Redskins career.  Plus Nasty Nick gets ripped for not knowing who Mark Rypien is.

Segment 2:
Jim Ducibella stops by the show from the Virginia Pilot and talks a little bit about the retirement of Joe Gibbs, and also makes an on-air retirement notice of himself.  After the press conference yesterday Ducibella said that Gibbs just could not be convinced into staying any longer and that it was his time to go.  Gregg Williams is definitely will take the first crack at getting the job, but Ducibella mentioned that Bill Cower is currently fine dining with Dan Snyder.

Segment 3:
Larry gets a little testy about losing ALL of the bets he made on last night's National Championship Game.

Segment 4:
Mark Rypien, former Redskins Superbowl MVP, stops by for a couple of minutes and talks a little bit about the Rypien Foundation which has just reached the one million mark over the past three years.  Currently he's just relaxing and doing a little broadcasting.  In response to the Joe Gibbs retirement, Rypien said it was a bittersweet time to seem him leave and that he was probably the perfect coach given the Sean Taylor situation this year and that he has done an outstanding job this year.

Segment 5:
Sam Huff (not Ruff) stops by to talk a little football.  Teaser Mike accidentally pissed him off by mispronouncing (Translation:  NOT KNOWING) his name which led him to rant about how football has changed over the years.  Joe Gibbs represented what football used to be and stand for.  Huff was also not to happy that players are being benched the last game of the season because teams are already in.  "If you were to ask Dick Butkus to take a bench in his time, he wouldn't even know where to go"

Segment 6:
Sam Huff, took a little to long so nothing this go around.

Segment 7:
Ryan O'Halloran stops by to also talk about Gibbs, and really thinks it's a two man race between Williams and Cower for the job.  Williams is the heavy standout and will most likely in the next two weeks get the job.  After knowing the system and in order to keep the continuity Williams should be a good fit.

Segment 8:
Rich and Larry get in a intense argument about the credibility of Norv Turner and if he is actually better than Marty Schottznheimer.  Norv fell upon that win and there is no reason that Marty couldn't have done the same thing as Norv says Larry. Rich points out that Norv has already won more playoff games in his tenure with the Chargers than Marty ... and moreover ... Double R is pissed off that he has been put in the position of defending Norv Turner as a head coach.
