Darryl Tapp talks Bears, Jarrett Bell rips Belicheck, R&R rip Bonds and Beckham
Thursday, 11 January 2007

Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry, 171 days until the "Gay"-dy bashing can resume ... at least on Rich's part.  The big news of the day was two fold.  Barry Bonds testing positive for amphetamines and throwing a teammate under the bus for it ... and David Beckham coming to play soccer in the US for the LA Galaxy.  Baseball and Soccer ... yawn.

Lots of college hoops talk early on as the Cavs gave the number 1 Tarheels a run for their money down in Chapel Hill on Wednesday ... coming up just a little short as they were outmanned down the stretch.  As you know, The Sportsline ... at least Rich, is not big on moral victories at all, however both R&R could agree that it was a good effort given by Dave Leitao's squad.  Now we will see how they bounce back during another tough road game at BC or a big one next week at home against Maryland.

Seahawks LB Darryl Tapp joined R&R on today's show as well ... looking back at the big win vs. Dallas and looking ahead toward this weekend's game in Chicago.  Tapp, who is having an outstanding rookie season, talked about his INT return for a TD against Denver on Sunday Night Football and loving how John Madden broke it down on TV.  Tapp also talked about how the team is not preparing for 2 QB's, should Grossman get benched, since both will run a similar system and there won't be many differences.

Double R and the Legend next took some time to bash Barry Bonds.  RR talked about the audacity that Bonds has to try to blame Mike (Mark?) Sweeney for giving him amphetamines.  RR wondered that since Bonds claimed he was given the 'roids by someone else and got burned ... why would he just trust someone to give him something else?  Larry admitted that even he is sick of the whole steroids scandal and would like to get back to talking about baseball on the field.  Rich yawned at the thought.

Jarrett Bell of the USA Today came on the show and had some fun with R&R.  Bell said that this weekend, the divisional playoffs, is the best weekend of playoff football and pointed out that all of the wildcard teams lost last weekend so there will be none of those great runs like the Steelers had last season.  Bell also admitted to picking both the Colts and the Ravens this week ... so he can't lose.  Jarrett also got a good laugh out of Rich calling Belichick a scumbag.  Bell said that he certainly could understand why people think that ... and gave a few great stories about Belichick ... but said that in the end, he thinks he's an OK guy.

The Comrade came on the show as a guest in the final segment to offer some insight into the signing of David Beckham by the LA Galaxy.  Rich admitted to tuning him out shortly after he came on the air.
