David Teel on the Hoos and Hokies, plus the NFL Playoffs begin
Thursday, 04 January 2007

Today's show opened with more commentary from Rich and Larry on Nick Saban jumping ship as the new captain of the Crimson Tide.  It wasn't long before a caller named Eugene checked in to set the record straight ... in his opinion ... and correct R&R as to what the lead story on the show should have been, and that was UVA's beatdown of Gonzaga.

Larry was quick to jump in at this point and say that until UVA wins a big game on the road ... he doesn't want to hear about UVA's greatness in hoops.  Rich was quick to add that after the humiliation the Cavs suffered down in Puerto Rico, that UVA fans shouldn't get too excited.

David Teel, of the Newport News Daily Press joined the guys for a few minutes on the show.  He was in agreement on UVA's lack of success on the road, and also wanted to see an impressive performance from the Hoos on the road.  Teel also said that despite the bowl debacle down in Atlanta for the Hokies being totally on the shoulders of Sean Glennon, VT fans should not be totally dreading next season as Glennon has shown the ability to be a caretaker of the offense.

Also on today's show, 6 of the 12 NFL Playoff Cover Pool participants were qualified, plus more details were revealed on The Sportsline's NFL Fantasy Challenge.

Finally, Ryan O'Halloran of the Washington Times dropped by to preview the playoffs.  Ryan will be covering the Giants-Eagles game during the opening weekend and feels the Eagles will come out on top.
