Today on The Sportsline, plenty of bashing of the Buckeyes after the drubbing they took at the hands of Urban Meyer and Florida. Rich wondered whether or not Troy Smith should have to give back his Heisman trophy after accumulating a total of 5 yards during Monday's National Championship beatdown. UVA forward Adrian Joseph dropped by the show to talk some college hoops with Double R and The Legend. Adrian said that Sean Singletary clearly is the catalyst for this team ... and everyone realizes that when he struggles and has an off night, that they must pick up the slack in order for the Hoos to pick up a win. He also said that the debacle down in Puerto Rico was a mess, however after a meeting that lasted several hours, the Cavs got their issues worked out. More on the National Championship game, which inevitably turned into the dreaded Playoff conversation. Rich said he would settle for a Plus 1 setup in which the bowl schedule would be played normally ... and then the top 2 teams after the bowls would play for the national championship. Larry pointed out that adding the 5th BCS Bowl game set the stage for that, though they used it to get Boise State a big payday. Mike Sando of the Tacoma News Tribune stopped by once again to talk some Seahawks. He obvioulsy covered the win against Dallas, but he also talked about the teams struggles this year. Injuries have been the biggest blow, as not only Shawn Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck missed significant time, but the team has been saddled with injuries all year long. Sando said he didn't particularly like the Seahawks chances against the Bears ... mainly because he expected Rex Grossman to be QB'ing inside of a cage, and should be allowed to take no chances. Jim Callis of Baseball America joined R&R to talk about the news that Cal Ripken and Tony Gwynn were voted into the HOF ... while Mark McGwire recieved only 25% of the votes when 75% are needed to get in. Callis said that he doesn't expect McGwire to ever get into the hall, and that the writers that vote are in some cases a bunch of hypocrits. |
