How many nights should a guy spend in the hospital? James Hylton & Superbowl Week kicks off
Monday, 29 January 2007

Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 153 days and counting until the Gay-dy bashing can resume by Double R.

Larry returned to the show today, a few days after the birth of his second daughter Laney.  His comments (complaints???) about lack of sleep sparked the debate about how many nights in the hospital a husband should spend with his wife after she gives birth.  Larry spent both nights sleeping in a chair at his wife's bedside.  Rich chided him and called him soft ... (Double R spent each night catching zzzz's in his own bed after his boys were born).  This debate triggered a new poll question, as well as a bunch of input from listeners.  After the first caller (at his wife's prompting we believe) rushed to Larry's defense ... the bulk of listeners came down on Rich's side ... some with stories about their own children's birth which made Rich look like the husband and father of the year!  FI Jones - Hammertime as you know and love him - left his wife's bedside to go hunting!

Up next on The Sportsline was 72 year old race car driver James Hylton, a Virginia guy,  who is attempting to qualify for the Daytona 500.  James told R&R the story of how his sponsor decided that he wanted to get involved in Cup Racing and that James was the guy he wanted driving.  At first, Hylton said, the goal was just to qualify for the 2007 Daytona 500.  But after checking out his car and equipment, Hylton's said his new goal is to not only qualify ... but also be competitive in the race.  He also told R&R that despite having a 13 year layoff running Cup cars ... he has been racing in the Arca series and feels he is ready to go.  Hylton plans on running an extended Cup schedule this year, in addition to the Daytona 500.

Dan Beyer of Fox Sports Radio joined Double R and the Legend live from Miami ... where he will be catching up with the guys each day this week with Superbowl updates.  Today was kind of a slow day as the Colts have not even arrived yet in Miami ... so R&R got Dan caught up in the great 'Hospital Sleep Over Debate' that dominated the early portion of the show.

In hour 2, TC Cochran and Tom Webb joined R&R live from Miami via the Alltel Superbowl Hotline.  TC and Webb preview what the plans for the week are as far as guests are concerned, and there are plenty of guys with local interest around the Commonwealth.  John Riggins, former Redskin great walked by and TC and Webb put him on the phone with R&R for like 30 seconds ... clearly he didn't want to be interviewed at that point.  The interview was actually quicker than Don King several years back.

Finally, R&R got around to talking a little college hoops on the show.  Both UVA and Tech had great road wins on Sunday ... Rich claimed that UVA's win was a little better while Larry was more impressed with Tech's win. Larry really likes the talent that Ga Tech has ... while Rich pointed out Jackets less than stellar 2-5 conference record.
