Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry, the countdown continue ... 167 days until the Tom Brady is gay jokes can come out of Double R's mouth. Today's show will be all about the Hokies and the NFL Playoffs. VT hung on to knock off Carolina on Saturday (in hoops!!) and swept both Dook and UNC in the same week to break into the top 25 for the first time in over a decade. Great, great win for the Hokies despite nearly giving it away in the end. Rich wondered how the team will respond going forward ... will it keep up its momentum and make a great run ... or just rest on its laurels and underachieve the rest of the way. Rich predicts that the seniors will respond and that Tech will make a nice run ... maybe even to the Sweet 16. R&R also talked about the NFL playoffs quite a bit ... mainly the Marty mess, as Schottenheimer keeps his streak alive, losing a 6th straight playoff game. Larry maintained his love and devotion for Marty, despite his playoff failures. Rich pointed out that Larry, along with the Comrade and many others were dead on last week, predicting that Marty would come out and have his team play agressively, to prove his critics wrong about Marty-ball. Rich thinks Marty-ball is just about playoff collapses and not necessarily a style of play. Mark Maske, NFL Columnist for the Washington Post dropped by upon returning from his trip to Chicago for the Bears-Seahawks game. Maske pointed out that with all of the attention on Rex Grossman and folks wondering whether he would have a great game or a stinker ... he kind of went middle of the road. Not very Rex-like. With the loss of great defenders like Harris and Brown, Maske thinks the Bears D is not what is was earlier ... and picked the Saint to advance to the SB if the weather is somewhat decent on Sunday in Chicago. Maske also said that LT should shut up, and criticize his teammates for being classless if he is going to do the same to the Patsies. Maske also picked the Colts over the Pats. Mike Harris ... the newly annointed Sports Editor of the Richmond Times Dispatch talked a little Hokie hoops with R&R. Mike also touched on his new responsibilities as the Editor of the sports section and the new Frank Beamer Biography he is working on. |
