Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 159 days and counting until Double R can unload both barrels at Tom Gay-dy ... plus R&R take a look at the new rules and point structure in NASCAR ... and of course much more football as we head to the Superbowl and look to replace the Tuna in Dallas. Jim Corbett, NFL Writer for the USA Today and Sports Weekly talked some football with R&R in hour number 1. Corbett touched on the Parcells situation down in Dallas ... he says it could almost be a dual coaching situation with Norv Turner and Wade Phillips handling the offense and defense, respectively. Corbett also picked the Colts to win the Superbowl, saying its all about the QB, and the focus, dedication and preparation difference between Peyton Manning and Rex Grossman is like Tiger Woods vs. John Daly. Up next ... after a few more shots at Ron Mexico ... er ... Michael Vick ... Rich and Larry talked more about Parcells. Rich thinks it's funny that many folks down in Big D, including TO, think that Parcells leaving is a good thing. RR cautions them to be careful what the wish for ... because he feels that no matter who they hire to replace Parcells, they won't get nearly as good a coach. Larry points to Parcells 34-32 record and says losing 500 coach isn't that big of a deal. "You are what you are" Larry quotes Parcells as saying ... and he was a 500 coach with the Cowboys. Larry's memory is clearly a short one ... as Parcells was a 500 coach with the Patsies too ... and noone feels that he did an average job with that franchise, do they? Next, Mark Garrow thevoice of PRN, the Performance Racing Network dropped by the show to talk about the announced rules changes that NASCAR will put into effect for this coming season. Garrow said that he like the direction the rules changes were going ... although he did not like expanding the field to include 12 drivers in the Chase. He said its too much like the NHL where everyone with a heartbeat makes the playoffs. He did like the emphasis on winning races, and feels the additional points given to race winners is a significantly positive change. Rich and Larry next instigated the Comrade into a political tirade which included calling the war in Iraq funny. This infuriated many listeners, and some called in to voice their displeasure ... including Darnell, who had never heard of Halliburton. Another caller calls into bash the Patsies and Larry a little bit more in favor of his Colts. Larry tells him to call back after the Colts lose the Superbowl and Manning retains the choker label.
