Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry, the countdown dips to 160 days until the Tom Gay-dy bashing can resume on Rich's part ... without penalty that is. Today ... much more fun for Double R than it was for the Legend, as all of Larry's hopes, expectations and predictions about Peyton Manning came crashing down in front of his eyes.
Merril Hodge of ESPN dropped by the show to talk a little bit about the Bears, much more about the Colts and quite a bit on the Tuna as well. Hodge said he was quite surprised by the departure of Parcells in Dallas as coach of the Cowboys ... and emphasized that they must replace him with a disciplinarian. Hodge warned that if you hear the term "players coach", there will be big trouble in big D.
Rich and Larry spent some more time breaking down the games, and taking phone calls in the second half of hour one. The Legend, still clinging to hope that Peyton Manning will not win the Superbowl ... while reluctantly giving Manning and the Colts credit for beating his Patsies, as much as he would have like to have said that the Patriots handed them the game, and AFC title. Rich gave Larry credit for going 2-0 during the championship games ... and pointed out that it started to make up for his 0-4 during the divisional playoffs.
Brad Sham, play by play voice of the Dallas Cowboys joined R&R in the second hour to talk about the sudden departure of Bill Parcells. Sham said he was as surprised as anyone and did speculate a little bit about the reasons for Parcells departure. Sham said Bill and Jerry Jones had a good working relationship ... and that TO was not as big of a problem in the locker room as the media liked to make him. Sham speculated that Wade Phillips and Norv Turner could be the leading candidates to replace Parcells.
