Saban jumps ship, and Hub Arkush calls him "crap"
Wednesday, 03 January 2007

Rich and Larry had some fun today talking about the resurgence of the Alabama football program now that Nick Saban has abandoned the Miami Dolphins to return to college football.  Larry, as well as most folks, believes that Saban will last a few years in Tuscaloosa before he moves on to the next best thing.  Rich wonders if this might not be Saban's last stop, as Nick has always described Alabama as his dream job.

Mac McDonald, play by play voice of the Virginia Cavs dropped by the show a few minutes prior to game time as the Cavs took on Gonzaga.  Mac touched on the brutal stretch down in San Juan for the Cavs, and the fact that he feels that they are already bouncing back strong from that debacle.  Mac described the trip to PR as more of an aberration rather than a rude awakening, in terms of what type of team and season the Cavs will have this year.

Hub Arkush, editor of Pro Football Weekly, began his interview by calling Nick Saban a "piece of crap" and thing just went downhill from there.  Not really though, Hub is always great to talk to, and aside from being upset with Nick Saban and the type of person he is ... Hub was also pretty frustrated with the current state of the NFL, claiming that only 4 of the currently playoff teams deserve to be in the playoffs, considering how poorly everyone finished down the stretch.  The Chargers, Patriots, Eagles and Jets are the 4 teams he was referring to incidently.
