Well the Patriots knocked off the Jets in the Wildcard round of the playoffs, and as a result Double R must refrain from any comments relating to Tom Brady's Gay-ness until July ... a 174 day moratorium. Rich was quick to point out that listeners and other staff members of the show are still able to bash Brady as much as they want. Larry tried to offer Rich a buyout: Rich can continue bashing Brady's Gay-ness, but could no longer assign an asterick to the Pats first Superbowl win, following the infamous tuck rule play against the Raiders earlier in the playoffs. Rich, of course, declined that offer. Dan Beyer, BCS expert for Fox Sports Radio, dropped by the show live from the National Championship game in Arizona. Beyer talked about the lack of buzz for this game, taking place on January 8th, rather than its traditional spot around New Year's Day. Beyer also predicted that Pete Carroll will turn down the Dolphins offer to stay at USC ... at least for the time being. Beyer's winner tonite - Ohio State pretty easy. Larry made his first guarantee of 2007 on today's show. Larry GUARANTEED that tonites national championship game would NOT be a blowout. Also, R&R took some calls on the NFL and college football in the beginning of hour 2. Some were kind enough to bash Brady ... since Rich of course cannot. One of those callers was Sportsline Superfan, Wes, who was offered a spot as a blogger at sportslineradio.com. Terry Bowden, former Auburn coach and current analyst for Westwood One Radio and Yahoo! Sports stopped by the show to preview the national championship game live from Phoenix. Bowden talked about the lack of buzz surround the game as well, and pointed out that the long layoff is traditional and part of the landscape of college football ... and since everyone deals with it, it isn't a very big problem for the NCAA and the sport. Bowden also picked Ohio State to win a close game. Finally, Rich got to read an email from a listener which Larry protested. The email contained some gay jokes about Tom Brady, which Larry claimed violated the terms of the bet, as Rich got to read them, and therefore spoke the derrogatory words about Brady. Rich claimed that since the words are not his own, and some listeners need a voice, that emails in this regard should be able to be read. The compromise here maybe that other staff members on The Sportsline must read these emails. Larry also proposed a "Brady is Gay" jar ... which Rich must pay a dollar each time he violates the bet. Rich agreed and said that every day he doesn't put in the money he rightfully owes the "Brady is Gay" jar, he must add an additional dollar. Rich suggested the money at the end of the bet in July be donated to charity ... Larry said no way ... it should buy them both lunch. Nice Guy huh?
