Monday on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... congrats to the Hokies for knocking off BC and advancing to the Orange Bowl where Kansas?!?! awaits them. R&R are extremely disappointed in the BCS Bowl matchups ... as VT-WVU would have been perfect! Erick Smith, college football editor of the USA Today dropped by with his thoughts on college football ... including the part of it which has the Legend so outraged - coaches lobbying on TV for the right to play in the National Championship Game. Is this really what College Football has come too? Smith was asked to pick who wins the BCS Championship game ... and right now he says LSU. R&R open up the phone lines and continue talking college football. Larry can't get over the BCS mess and is shocked that Double R has. Rich's explanation is quite simple: The BCS has been a disaster for several years now and there is no change in sight. So why worry and argue about something that isn't going to change? Instead Rich would rather bitch about the lousy BCS Bowl Matchups. If they can't give us a playoff ... how about at least some intriguing BCS games. R&R also break down the Tech - BC game. Mark Maske of the Washington Post checked in to talk some NFL. Started out talking about tonites game in Baltimore, where he thinks the blustery conditions might actually give the Ravens a shot against the Patsies. The wind might slow down the Patriots and limit their scoring ... but Rich wonders if the Ravens can put ANY points on the board. Maske also talked about the Skins game on Sunday and the blunder by Gibbs at the end of the game. He doesn't feel like you can criticize Gibbs for that because of the circumstances they were playing the game under. R&R wrapped up the show talking with Mike Burnop, color analyst for the VT Radio Network. Mike is looking forward to a change of venue for the ACC Title game as once again there were thousands of empty seats in the stadium. Burnop was very impressed with the Hokies D shutting down BC in the second half, and felt that the blocked extra point was the turning point in the game. Burnop also is down on the selection process for the BCS ... but is looking forward to a good game against Kansas. |
