Ian Eagle & Paris Lennon Live in Studio

Wednesday on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... only 3 shows left until the Brady Bashing resumes ... and R&R open the show with some talk about the Chris Benoit murder/suicide.  The talk was about the impact that steriods may have had in the slayings ... and as Rich pointed out, what impact that might have in other sports (not saying that wrestling is a sport).  Steroids in other sports are under the gun because of the advantage that athletes gain over other athletes, but if they played a role in a double murder/suicide then look out.  Also, with the killings being so spaced out ... some experts have ruled out 'Roid Rage' saying that this is much more deliberate and planned out.

After Larry got finished forbidding his young daughters playing with the Roth boys ... Sportsline Historian Wesley Q. May checked in with a history moment.  One year ago today, the dump button made its debut on The Sportsline.  R&R are amazed at nearly the decade long run without the dump button, although Wes pointed out that it was needed on a couple of occasions.

Ian Eagle was up next on the show ... and before he could preview the upcoming NBA draft or talk a little NFL Football ... he started complaining about his promo playing in the Play-In game in the upcoming PromoMania.  Ian thought he got robbed ... and blamed Bluetooth for not getting one of his better moments into the tourney.

Most of the second hour featured an in-studio interview with Detroit Lions LB Paris Lenon.  Lenon played his high school ball at Heritage in Lynchburg, and his college ball at Richmond.  Paris spent a year in the XFL (which R&R thought was pretty cool) before catching on with the Packers.  A look of shock came over Paris' face when he thought that Rich said that Larry played in the XFL too (he didn't say that ... as everyone would have been shocked as well).

Paris also talked about his relationship with The Athletic Republic, helping him get into shape ... as well as the difficult road he traveled to make it as a starter in the NFL.  As a free agent, Paris was considering a number of teams ... but liked everything he saw when he visited Detroit (including the city) and signed on board.  He feels the team is turning a corner ... and while not quite ready to predict 10+ wins like a lot of his teammates ... he is confident that the Lions will be a much improved team again in 2007.
