The End of an Era
Saturday, 06 January 2007

Friday on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... was the final show that the two would broadcast in what was nearly a ten year run for the "dynamic duo" (Mike Burnup's nickname for R&R) on The Sportsline's flagship station WLNI.

R&R kicked it off with a preview of the show before hooking up with the founder of The Sportsline on WLNI ... Bob Sturm.  Sturm talked about the opportunity that was given to him about 14 years ago and relived some of the highlights including Sports Media Trivia, The King of All Jerks and the many bets he and Rich shared including the one in which Double R lost his locks betting on Tarheel Football.

The rest of the show featured some of R&R's favorite memories and promos ... plus Brian Weigand, aka Mr. Know It All dropped by for the final show on WLNI ... as did many of the characters who have been a part of the show over the years including The All State Waterboy Bobby Alvis and The Shepherd Jake Hamlett.

Of course The Comrade and Danny Boy were on hand with Dale the Engineer and Sportsline Historian Wesley Q. May was on hand as well.  Noticeable by their absence were Luscious Lil and Bluetooth ... who apparently had better things to do.
