Billy Packer, Erin Andrews, & Ritchie McKay and Jeff Barber on LU's New Hoops Coach
Monday, 26 March 2007

Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 97 days and counting ... but today R&R begin the show by mourning their pitiful brackets.  While most folks have 3 or even all 4 of their Final Four teams still alive ... Rich and Larry have 2.  Total.  1 really ... since all they both have left is Ohio State.  Pathetic, don't you think?

Billy Packer, color analyst for CBS Sports dropped by the show next and talked about the great Elite 8 matchups which of course lead to an exciting Final Four.  The lack of upsets in the early and middle rounds, led to the heavyweights being left to duke it out down the stretch.  Packer also admitted to focusing entirely on the Final Four ... and has not looked ahead to potential Championship Game matchups. He also said tempo in the first few minutes of the Florida UCLA game should tell the story.

Rich and Larry also addressed Bracketmania and the fact that with so many entries this year ... no updates are available yet.  They did give a quick update on the Sweet 16 pool and also announced the new poll question that relates to Wrestlemania.  Larry threw down one of his famous guarantee's ... that Trump would absolutely not get his head shaved at Wrestlemania.

Next the conversation turned to Monday Night Football and ESPN making the call to remove Joe Theismann from the broadcast team.  Rich was sure Kornheiser would be the one to go and said that as big a fan as he is of Tony K ... his work on MNF actually caused Double R to enjoy PTI less during the season.  Larry is one of the few folks who really likes Theismann as an analyst and was also shocked at the news.

Hour 2 kicked off once again with Erin Andrews of ESPN dropping by the show to break down brackets ... but before college hoops talk began ... Double R congratulated Erin on breaking the story of the Red Sox moving Papelbon back to the closer role and Erin talked about how that story developed.  She also was quite excited about her Gators advancing to the FF again, and talked about her superstitions which helped get them there.  Next week marks the beginning of Monday Night Baseball on ESPN and Erin was bummed that her sideline duties there might cause her to miss Florida playing for a national championship.

After a quick check of Nascar Fantasy League Standings presented by ABC 13 WSET ... Ritchie McKay, the new hoops coach at Liberty dropped by the show.  McKay talked about his pursuit of the Liberty job and why he feels like the right fit for LU.  He also talked about his committment to stay at LU despite a track record of bouncing around a little for a wide variety of reasons ... and what makes Liberty a good job.  LU Athletic Director Jeff Barber also dropped by the show to talk about LU's reasoning for the hire and why he feels McKay can take the Flames to places that Randy Dunton could not.
