Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 94 days and counting ... and R&R opened up the show by talking about their favorite sports. Rich said college hoops and the NFL topped the list, with college football a close third. Larry is all about baseball, although he hasn't been able to get into it as much this year. That is evident by the lack of baseball guests that have appeared so far this year on the show. John Organ, former TV personality in the area checked in to remind everyone that its time for the NHL playoffs to begin. David Teel, columnist for the Newport News Daily Press dropped by from a restaurant in Atlanta, he said ... though RR claims to have heard the familiar sounds of the Cheetah in the background. Teel talked about the upcoming Final Four and said he wants to see ... and expects to see Georgetown and UCLA in the Championship game on Monday night. Sportsline Historian Wesley Q. May checked in with "This Day in Sportsline History" and reminded everyone that back in 2004 Double R was crowned the Media Home Run Derby Champion for the Lynchburg Hillcats. Although he has not been able to follow up that performance with a second championship ... he remains the only Home Run Derby Champ affiliated with the show. Regan Smith, of Ginn Racing dropped by the show and talked about splitting time in the US Army Chevrolet with Mark Martin. Smith got his first Cup start last week in Bristol and will get start number 2 this weekend at Martinsville. He talked about having the opportunity to learn under Martin and also touched on the Car of Tomorrow. Regan said his golf game isn't any better than it was last year when he teamed up with R&R in Stacy Compton's tourney at Poplar Grove last summer. Up next was a score check of the NIT Championship Game. Rich commented that WVU might lose coach Belien to Michigan. Incidentally, former Michigan coach Tommy Amaker is up for the job at Harvard, along with Mike Jarvis. Harvard has no black head coaches, and according to Rich, the Crimson would be much better off with Amaker as Jarvis is a cheater. Carl Edwards, driver of the Office Depot Ford joined the guys on the show next, although Rich couldn't get his sponsor right throughout the entire interview. He mixed it up with Home Depot, which brought up questions about Carl's relationship with Tony Stewart ... and he talked about his new sports pyschologist or coach, which has made big difference both on and off the track for Carl. Finally, Rich would not reveal on the air his theory on why vasectomies were less perferrable to the woman getting her tubes tied ... for decency reasons. Thank God for small miracles ... Double R actually used some judgement! Rich got fired up over Kenny Rogers as well. The MLB season hasn't even started and Kenny is on the DL with a TIRED ARM?!?!?!?! Are you F'ING kidding me?
