Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 103 days and counting ... plus the announcement of the beginning of The Sportsline's Annual Sweet 16 cover pool. The grand prize for winning this contest is an overnight stay at The Homestead ... courtesy of Virginia Sports Report. Rich and Larry also got into the poll question on the website ... plus heard from Darnell which as you know, is always a treat. Sportsline Historian Wesley Q. May checked in with "This Day in Sportsline History" as the Comrade pointing out that in 2003 The Sportsline was pre-empted on WLNI due to the beginning of "George Bush's War". Also, Dave Glenn editor of the ACC Area Sports Journal dropped by to talk about the disappointing NCAA Tournament for the ACC. Although Dave pointed out that things pretty much shook out the way he had anticipated, with Carolina being the one team with a chance to reach the Final Four. That said ... he did think that at least one of the other teams would be able to make a run to the sweet 16, which obviously didn't happen. Rich and Larry head back to the topic of the Hokies ... and while it was a great season for the team and the program ... ending the season with a second loss to the Salukis was definitely a tough way to go down. Mike Gminski, color analyst for CBS Sports was up next on The Sportsline after calling all of the action in Columbus where both the Hoos and Hokies played. Mike talked about both teams having their opportunities ... and when asked to evaluate the programs ... he said that both UVA and Tech are on the right track. An email trickled in about Larry's choice of TV shows including Dancing with the Stars. Is that, along with Oprah and the View worse than Bluetooth openly admitting to enjoying Justin Timberlake's music? The Sportsline's NASCAR Fantasy League Standings presented by ABC 13 WSET were up next on the show ... with Greg checking in to correct the Fantasy League Standings once again ... claiming that he benched Joe Nemecheck rather than Bobby Labonte ... and the Comrade failed to pass that along. Bluetooth also was pretty proud of himself ... as his team has jumped up into 4th place after a very slow start which had team owner Stacy Compton questioning his ability on this past Friday's show. The Sweet 16 Contest got off to an early start ... Mark had first crack at the Tarheels in the pool, but missed the qualifying trivia question to earn the Tarheels. So UNC will be on the board when the show hits the air on Wednesday.
