Day 1 in Tampa at The 54th ACC Tournament
Thursday, 08 March 2007

Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 115 days and counting but right now its all about the 54th ACC Tournament ... as Rich and Bluetooth are live in Tampa, as Larry's leash wasn't quite long enough to allow him to make it down.  It's gonna be another action packed ACC Tourney on The Sportsline ... jam packed with guests.

Pat Forde of ESPN.com kicked off the Tourney coverage with Rich down in Tampa.  He said that the win over Clemson will help FSU, but they will need more help to make the NCAA field.  Forde said he likes Nevada as a sleeper in the big dance and that while not intentional, the foul by Gerald Henderson was deserving of a suspension.

Jerry Ratcliffe of The Charlottesville Daily Progress and Doug Doughty of The Roanoke Times dropped by next from the ACC Tournament.  Doughty and Larry both feel that UVa and Tech will be one and done in the ACC tourney ... although everyone agrees that the fact that by the end of Fridays show, the fact that both teams will still be alive is quite amazing.  There was also some Gary Williams talk, as both Doug and RR had the opportunity to hear his profanity laced tirades as they sat behind the Maryland bench.

David Teel of the Newport News Daily Press was the next to drop by from Tampa.  He begged for no more UNC-Dook coverage, wished Marland could have lasted for potential showdown with UNC and also agreed with RR that NC State would beat Dook.  Teel hoped for either the Hokies or Hoos to make it to Sunday and predicted that Tech would beat UVA to advance to the finals.

The G-man, Mike Gminski of Raycom was next up.  He talked about having the ACC tourney in Tampa ... and how the tournament has changed over the course of the years.

Aaron McFarling of the Ronaoke Times told the guys about the local casino in the area, which turned out to be the same one where Anna Nicole Smith died just a few weeks ago.  The though of gambling made Larry feign jealousy at not being at the tournament.  McFarling marveled at the fact that two FLA teams won and advanced, and told the guys how he had quite a few questions to answer as a Maryland alum.
