Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 114 days and counting but right now its all about the 54th ACC Tournament ... as Rich and Bluetooth are live in Tampa, as Larry's leash wasn't quite long enough to allow him to make it down. Today's show kicks off with Jim Hobgood and Mac McDonald of the Virginia Sports Network, just minutes prior to UVa's first game against NC State, which knocked off Dook in Round 1 as Rich predicted. Hobgood said quite frankly that he didn't think UVa was very good, although he felt Coach Leitao did an excellent job getting these guys to overachieve. Also said he would have preferred for UVa to play Dook. Mac described the season as a very fine line between winning and losing games, and that UVa found a way to win and really make the season a great one. Mac hoped for a long tourney run for JR Reynolds, who he described as a great guy. Doug Doughty drops by again ... along with Jeff White of the Richmond Times Dispatch and David Teel dropped by again as well. All of the upsets on Thursday didn't really change much in terms of what these guys expected from the Tourney in the big picture although Doughty did pick VT to beat Wake. Eric Montross, Color Analyst of the Tarheel Sports Network was up next and had some fun with Rich and Larry ... including having a picture taken of him standing next to Double R. Can't wait til that hits the website. Dave Glenn of the ACC Area Sports Journal shed some light on "the ballet" and on NC State and its new coach Sidney Lowe. A very impressive guy who Dave thinks could very well turn out to be the right fit in Raleigh. John Feinstein told R&R that UNC is the only team in the ACC this year that poses a threat nationally. He said he doesn't expect Dook to make the Sweet 16 this year and says that nobody takes UVa and Tech seriously for a good reason. Also has a new book coming out in May called "Tales from Q-School, The 5th Major" and is currently working on a baseball book with Tom Glavine and Mike Mussina. R&R wrapped up the show with NASCAR Fantasy. |
