Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 118 days and counting. Amazingly both UVa and Tech had the opportunity to wrap up the ACC regular season and number 1 seed in the tourney ... and both lost to inferior teams. Way to go guys ... way to step up and seal the deal! Rich promised a banner hanging ceremony in C'ville after the Clemson game ... he says the sad thing is that even though they lost the game, UVA will probably still hang a banner because of the split title with UNC. RR is very disappointed with both the Cavs and Hokies. Larry spent much of the first 30 minutes patting himself on the back. Guess that's how he really hurt his shoulder huh? R&R announce that the grand prize for Bracketmania this year will be a 3 day 2 night get-a-way for 2 people to Kiawah Island Resort ... with 3 rounds of golf including one at the famed Ocean Course. More prizes and details to follow. Tech senior guard Zabian Dowdell dropped by the show. He talked about the disappointement with not being able to seal the deal on Sunday against Clemson ... but reminded everyone that it was still a great season. Larry asked him about the final few seconds, the mad scramble and lack of a whistle by the officials. Zabian also joked about not wanting any part of NC State in the ACC tourney. R&R catch up with Jonathon Howard of the Commonwealth Times to preview the CAA conference tourney finals in Richmond tonite. VCU is the top seed and will face 6th seeded George Mason who is on quite a run again this year. Howard picks VCU to win by 6 ... barely covering the 5 point spread. Rich and Larry talk more ACC hoops ... focusing on UVA and Tech. Rich says he is done jumping on board with these two teams after being disappointed again over the weekend. Breaking News: Thomas Jones is traded to the Jets for a 2nd round pick in this year's draft. Jonathon Howard checks back in with an update from Richmond. Low scoring game ... tempo favors Mason as they lead 13-11. JR Reynolds drops by the show to talk with R&R. He talks about the great season despite the bad losses to Maimi and Wake. He says that UVA didn't play with the energy they needed to win those games, and expects that not to be a problem again. Really looking forward to Tampa and a chance to top his buddy Curtis Staples. Another update from Richmond as George Mason continues to lead. Rich says the ODU coach is currently yelling at his TV because if Mason upsets VCU it could cost ODU an at large spot in the Tourney. Rich and Jonathon speculate that if Mason wins however ... ODU might get the at large and VCU might get left out in the cold.
