Tuesday on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 40 days and counting
... but the big announcement was made in the early going that Friday
June 1, will be the final broadcast of The Sportsline on its flagship
station, WLNI in Lynchburg. R&R have been going strong for almost
a decade on WLNI and The Sportsline is the longest running show on the
station ... and the only show that has been on the station since day 1
when it was turned on back in 1993. It's the end of an era.
Coming
up later, qualifying for season 2 of The Sportsline NASCAR Fantasy
League presented by ABC 13, WSET. The Virginia Spring Social was
taking place in Lynchburg and Dave Leitao and Al Groh both dropped by
the show. Leitao was up first and he touched on their tough loss to
Tennessee in Round 2 of the NCAA Tourney and his reaction to Sean's
missed final shot. He talked about the special relationship that he
has with Singletary and stated that he feels that Sean will be back in
a Cavalier uniform next season. Leitao said that losing guys like JR
Reynolds and Jason Cain will be tough ... but the pressure is on to
continue to improve.
Al Groh also checked in and touched on the
tough season last year ... however he is encouraged because next season
... despite having a young team ... those young guys will have some
great game experience. He also talked about some of the older guys
like Chris Long, looking forward to redeeming themselves in 2007.
R&R
wrapped up the show with "Stump The Sportsline" for the final 2
available spots in season 2 of The Nascar Fantasy League. Mike and
David both got the nod and will participate in Wednesday night's draft.
