Bill Clement, Bob Nightengale & The North is Smarter than the South
Thursday, 17 May 2007

Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 45 days and counting ... R&R discuss UVA head football coach Al Groh REPORTEDLY getting a little chippy with some fans at a VAF function in Roanoke.  Plus, Sportsline Historian Wesley May left another nugget on his voicemail, about how the Luscious Lil threw out the first pitch at a Lynchburg Hillcats baseball game in 2006 ... totally decked out a Dora the Explorer.  She looked so much like Dora ... she was freaking little kids out!

Bob Nightengale of the USA Today dropped by to talk some baseball.  He hit on the usual topics including the Yankees slow start (they may be out of the division race already), the commissioner attending games as Bonds breaks Aaron's record (he will be there) ... but he also talked some Milwaukee Brewers.  Bob said that the Brew Crew's hot start was mainly because of a soft schedule although they are the team to beat in the NL Central.

Rich points out that Bill Clement is coming up to talk some Hockey ... and opens up the phones for Hockey calls.  Amazingly ... there are none!  (did you catch a hint of sarcasm in that last statement?)  That leads to a little talk about the North and South where Double R pointed out that people in the North are smarter than folks in the South ... and Bluetooth pretty much proved his point!  Bluetooth has lived in Virginia his whole life and thought that Smithfield (where Vick's dogfighting house is located) was in Northern Virginia!  He also did not know that Virginia is known for Lovers and Ham!  Another point for Double R!

Bill Clement of NBC Sports dropped by to talk some pucks.  As we close in on the Stanley Cup Finals, the top seeded Buffalo Sabres have a tremendous hill to climb being down 3-0 to Ottowa ... and Clement also felt that if Detroit could play with the same intensity they did the other night, they would win their series with Anaheim.

R&R wrapped up the show disccusing Larry's love of "Chick Flicks".  After much prodding by Double R ... Larry came clean and admitted to not only watching "THE QUEEN" ... but enjoying it as well!  There is really no hope for him at all.
