Clemens Signs with Yanks, Boxing PPV & Jim Utter talks Nascar
Monday, 07 May 2007

Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 55 days and counting ... and lots going on right off the bat on the show.  Kentucky Derby, De La Hoya - Mayweather, Clemens to the Yanks, plus NBA and NHL Playoffs.  Rich complained about the price of the boxing pay per view and Larry pointed that it wouldn't have been a big deal if RR hadn't lost all his money on the Kentucky Derby.  Good Point.

R&R bantered back and forth on the future of boxing ... and Double R pointed out that the UFC is quickly overtaking boxing as far as popularity is concerned.  Bluetooth had a bone to pick with Comcast in Lynchburg losing the signal for the fight ... unfortunately he did not do the research necessary to back up his story.

Roger Clemens is going to make $750,000 per start and $7500 per pitch this year with the Yankees.  Unbelievable.  Larry got up on his soapbox about the Redsox not caving into the rediculous contract that the Yankees gave Clemens ... but he clearly would have preferred to have the Rocket back in Beantown.

Nascar and Nascar Fantasy league talk dominated much of hour 2 of the show, including Jim Utter of the Charlotte Observer dropping by the show.  Hendrick continues to dominate not only COT races, but NEXTEL Cup racing in General, with Gordon and Johnson 1-2 in the standings and Kyle Busch lurking just outside of the top 5.  Utter says that Hendrick and Chevy made a bigger committment to testing the COT than the other teams did, thus they have had more success early ... however he believes that other teams are beginning to catch up.
