Jason Snelling, Bob Sturm, Michael Vick's Issues and Staff Recruitment
Tuesday, 01 May 2007

Today on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... 61 days and counting ... and a number of different topics to cover on the show, including the NBA.  Rich's logic is that if a player only plays one year at a certain college ... the once he gets to the next level he isn't really thought of as being a representative of that college.  Luol Deng is the example Rich used ... and when it comes to Dook basketball, Deng is nowhere on the list of players that come to mind.  Larry pointed out that since Deng is actually a Dookie with a promising pro career ... Rich is in denial.

Wes checked in with "This Day in Sportsline History" ... flashing back to 2001 when Double R had the day off and Larry and the gang brought up a story about strip clubs ... speculating where Rich was on that particular day. Danny Boy got into his theory on gay guys ... that in order to prove that a guy is not gay, he needs to have sex with an ugly woman.  The logic is that anyone can have sex with a hot chick ... but it takes a straight guy to have sex with a not so hot chick.  Makes some sense huh?

Jason Snelling, UVA RB who got picked in the 7th round of the draft by the Atlanta Falcons dropped by the show.  Snelling talked about watching the draft and waiting for his name to be called and about the opportunity he will have down in ATL.  He also laughed off Rich's question about getting into dog fighting ... in order to get on his QB's good side.   R&R followed up the Snelling interview with a further discussion on Michael Vick's problems ... the Comrade mentioned something about cock fighting which had everyone scratching their heads about his choice of animal fighting.

Bob Sturm, former host of The Sportsline and now a host for KTCK down in Dallas checked in to talk about the Mavs 3-1 deficit to the Golden State Warriors in Round 1 of the NBA Playoffs.  While surprised and disappointed in the start that the Mavs are off too ... Bob said that he still expects them to win the series.  The problem he said ... is that they might be so phyically and emotionally drained from this series that they could drop the next one pretty easily and still not fulfill the expecations of an NBA or even Western Conference Championship.

Up next R&R took a look at the NASCAR Fantasy Standings, presented by ABC 13 WSET.  One thing everyone is keeping a close eye on is Dennis Carter ... who is on the brink of finishing dead last in the Women's Division.  Larry's squad has also plunged dangerously close to the basement ... while David and Rich are battling it out for the title.

Finally, after announcing that Marcus Vick was cut by the Dolphins and expected to take a position at his brother's dog fighting outfit ... R&R played some of the commercials that the staff had cut recruiting interns to work with the show.  Pretty good job by everyone ... although Danny Boy's raised some eyebrows.
