Elite Divison Preview, Bud Foster talks Hokies and Solomon Wilcots
Wednesday, 08 November 2006

Today R&R spent more time on the upcoming 2006 Song Parody Contest presented by Triangle Ford Mercury.  The Elite division will not be as packed as it has been in years past, as this year certain requirements were put in place to qualify for the Elite Division.  As of right now, Jeff "The Boss" Maxwell has confirmed that he will defend his Elite Division Title.  Norm and the Recliners also will be back, parodying Dire Straits "Money For Nothing" and Jamie Minnix, the only person to compete in every Song Parody Contest will be back, in the Elite Division as well.

Also on the show, Rich and Larry caught up with Bud Foster, the Defensive Coordinator for the Virginia Tech Hokies.  Coach Foster talked about the resurgance of the Hokie defense after the wheels fell off against Georgia Tech and BC.  Foster said that the turnaround was a credit to the verteran leadership on the team, pulling everyone together rather than letting them fall apart.  Foster also talked about the state of the ACC.  He said that every conference goes through its cycles and that the ACC is one of the top conferences and will rebound shortly.

Solomon Wilcots, NFL color analyst for CBS also dropped by the show.  Wilcots talked about the Indianapolis Colts being the strongest team in the NFL right now, as a result of road wins at Denver and at New England.  He also felt that the Colts collapse in the playoffs last season was a result of too much rest for the starters at the end of the regular season and all of the emotions due to the suicide of Tony Dungy's son.  Solomon said that the Redskins are capable of another strong finish like they had last year, but there are plenty of other teams hovering around 500 in the NFC that might be more likely to finish strong, including the Carolina Panthers.
