Macaca, George Allen, The Redskins and Larry goes Christmas Shopping.
Monday, 06 November 2006

On today's show, Rich was flying solo (with a little help from the Comrade, Bluetooth and Mr. Ass) as Larry extended his weekend with a little shopping spree in Williamsburg.

Lot's of college football talk in the first hour as listeners chimed in with their thoughts on the disappointing ACC season.  Some folks were wondering about the state of the Tech program, others wondered what happened to FSU and Miami and another even wondered about the direction NC State is headed with Chuck Amato.  Rich pointed out that if he were just a football fan with no ties or allegiances to the ACC, that he would be very disinterested in ACC football this season, as no teams are really good on the national level, and even though there seems to be a lot of mediocrity, the games are not necessarily close and competitive either.  He noted that 3 of Tech's big games, Georgia Tech, BC and Clemson, were not competitive at all . . . win or lose . . . and not much fun to watch.

In the final segment of hour 1, Senator George Allen called in.  He was supposed to talk some Redskins . . . but Rich was more interested in his senatorial race . . . and the word "Macaca".  Senator Allen, apologized for the use of the word...but he apparently didn't find it as funny as Rich did.

In the second hour of the show, Comrade was given "Equal Time" and presented the Democrat's Response to Senator Allen's comments made earlier on the show.

Mike Sando of the Tacoma News Tribune dropped by the show live from Seattle and MNF.  Mike was very well versed in orthopedics as he described in detail the status of the broken foot of Shaun Alexander.  Mike said that Shaun will probably return next week for the big game with St. Louis, while  QB Matt Hasselbeck will more than likely miss one more week.  Sando picked the Seahawks to win, though cautioned that anything can happen in the NFL, and pointed to Detroit knocking off Atlanta and Miami beating up on Chicago as evidence.

Finally, Ryan O'Halloran of the Washington Times talked some Redskins with Double R.  Ryan said that the win over Dallas was one of the wildest ones he had ever seen, although he felt it was just prolonging the inevitable as Washington is still a longshot at best for a spot in the playoffs.  O'Halloran also said that he thinks the win over the Cowboys bought Mark Brunell another couple of weeks as the starter at QB.  But sooner or later, once the skins are eliminated, youngster Jason Campbell will need to get some serious time at QB to determine whether or not the skins need to pursue a QB in the free agent market who is more ready to play right now.
