The Amateur Divison of the 2006 SPC and Dave Glenn
Tuesday, 07 November 2006

On Today's Show, R&R had a lot of fun previewing the upcoming Song Parody Contest presented by Triangle Ford Mercury.  They focused on the Amateur Division today, getting confirmations from past contestants who will be performing again this year including:  Mickey Johnson, Wes May, Greg Tomlin and Ed Medledy to name a few.  The guys had fun playing clips from these guys previous entries, along with dishing out a little advice for this years songs.  Glenn Campbell was the first "New Blood" entry and announced that he will be performing to the tune of "Wasting Away in Margaritaville".  Rich warned Glenn that this particular song has been done quite well in the past ... but Glenn had no worries.

Other announcements on The 2006 SPC presented by Triangle Ford Mercury include some of the vendors booths that will be on hand this year including High Peak Sportswear.  QR Limosuine will provide the Limo for the winners of the elite division to attend the game, and will have a limo on display at the event.  Lynchburg Live will once again be filming the SPC and DVD's will be available for a small fee this year as well.

Dave Glenn, editor of The ACC Area Sports Journal also dropped by the show for the final half hour.  Dave had some fun listening to some clips of past years SPC's and loved the idea.  Might even come up as a guest judge this year.  He also talked about ACC football, and pointed out that if either FSU or Miami was what we typically expect from them . . . that of course being a top 5 team in the championship hunt . . . then the ACC would be looked at as a strong, deep conference.  But that lack of an elite team really makes the conference suffer.  Dave also touched on a little ACC hoops.  He thinks both UVA and Tech should be in the top half of the Conference and should both make serious runs at the NCAA tournament.
