The SPC Results Show
Wednesday, 22 November 2006

On today's show, the guys kicked it off by thanking everyone in attendance, and especially all of the participants for once again putting on a great show.  R&R also announced a grand total of over $9000 raised for Judah Berry and his family to help Judah in his fight against Leukemia.

First up was the Amateur Division.  A couple of the contestants got ruled out of the running right off the bat.  "No More Margaritaville" was the way Rich put it.  Greg Tomlin also did an admirable job, but didn't quite meet the high expectations the guys had for him after an unbelieavable rookie campaign back in 2005.  The final four boiled down to Jack Campbell, who Rich said did a really good job with an interesting approach to his lyrics, Ed Medley who bounced back solidly from a tough 05 appearance, and newcomer Ray Irby and Wes May.  For the final two it came down to Wes and Ray.  R&R came up with a pretty good scheme to job Wes out of the win and the tickets to the game having the Comrade screw him with a last place vote.  Wes fell for it, but the Comrade backed down and Wes picked up his first win in the SPC.

The Elite Division ended in controversy, which had to be settled off the air.  Jamie Minnix got screwed by the equipment.  Being the only one to use a CD, it did not come out over the air or on the recording and as a result, Jamie never had a chance.  Norm and the Recliners did another admirable job, although the feeling was that they did not quite live up to the expectations that they had created for themselves after dominating the event from 2003-2005.  So that left it up to KB & Earnest and Jeff "The Boss" Maxwell and the 5th street band.

Everyone agreed that KB & Earnest had the superior lyrics, but "The Boss" garnered alot of support from the listeners both on the air and online for his outstanding live performance.  The vote wound up deadlocked . . . and the end result . . . a tie.  God R&R really hate ties . . . but their would be no screwjobs.  Sorry about the tie . . . but both groups really kicked ass.
