Hokie Fans Boo Their Team? What the hell is going on here?
Tuesday, 03 October 2006

On today's show, lots of Tech talk as the first 3/4 of the show revolved around the Virginia Tech Hokies.  Rich and Larry opened up the phones and talked about the disappointment that the coaching staff and players have expressed about the booing by fans in the past two games and the early departures this past saturday against Georgia Tech.

One caller denied that Hokie fans drink the "Kool-Aid" and believe that the Hokies are better than they really are.  This caller even went as far as to say that he and his other Hokie buddies actually went into Saturday's game expecting the Hokies to lose . . . DESPITE the fact that they were 10 point favorites.  YEAH RIGHT!

Mark Schlabach of ESPN.com also dropped by to talk some college football and discuss his new book, "What it Means to be a Hokie", available in bookstores everywhere.  Mark talked about the great loyalty of the Hokie faithful, and shared a few stories from his book in which he talks with former Hokie football players from all generations and shares their tales in his new book.

Baseball was also a topic on today's show as the playoffs got under way.  Ben Walker of the Associated Press predicted a subway series, adding that the Mets and Yankees in the World Series this year would not necessarily be the best thing for Baseball.
