Tuesday on The Sportsline with Rich Roth and Larry Richmond, 28 days and counting 'til The 2007 Song Parody Contest ... R&R continue to cover the Cavs after there big win up in College Park, but ask the question ... will this be the same old Cavs? Win the big game one week and then the following week get tripped up by a 2 win NC State team. We will see. Duke Grant of the Lynchburg chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association also dropped by to talk about the Silent Auction that will be held at the Song Parody Contest this year to benefit the Hokie Memorial Fund. Mikell Simpson, the surprise hero for UVA last weekend up in College Park burst onto the scene to pratically singlehandedly win the game for the Cavaliers. When talking with Rich and Larry however, Mikell said all the right things ... giving plenty of credit to his teammates and coaches. When asked about the game winning touchdown and the possibility of it being a fumble, Simpson was adamant that he saw the ball cross the goalline and new it was a TD, never thinking it would be overturned. Sportsline intern Slappy took a little heat in hour 2 for his pathetic picks once again in Pigskin Pick'em. Rich and Larry examined Slappy's life a little closer and determined he is on the same path as the Legend ... God forbit! R&R also talked a little bit more about the upcoming Song Parody Contest and played a clip from the Professor's performance last year of "Hokie Boy". Aaron McFarling, columnist for the Roanoke Times checked in to preview the VT-BC game, but the guys had some fun talking (translation: making fun of) women's soccer and baseball as well. McFarling also professed to be a believer in the Virginia Cavaliers this year. He said the bottom line is winning or losing games ... and the Cavs are winning. This weeks BC game can do for the Hokies what Maryland did for the Cavs. McFarling also says that this week he believes that Sean Glennon gives VT the best chance to win, as the Hokies will have to beat BC passing the ball. R&R wrapped up the show talking a little HS Hoops with Roy Roberson, coach of EC Glass in Lynchburg. Roberson was not talking about his Hilltoppers however, he put together a big game in the Hill City between Prep School powers Hargrave Military Academy and Oak Hill in which a number of future Division 1 hoops stars and even future NBA Stars will be playing. |
