Aaron McFarling, Mike Tulemole and Tyrod Taylor Gets the Call after the Bayou Beatdown
Monday, 10 September 2007
Monday on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... The Hokies get beatdown in the bayou and Beamer doesn't take long to name Tyrod Taylor the new starting QB over in Blacksburg.  Larry wonders what took so long, while Rich maintains that the timing is perfect and that the move needed to be made despite Double R being a big fan of Sean Glennon.  Aaron McFarling of the Roanoke Times dropped by to talk about the brutal loss, commenting how bad the entire defense was and how bad the ACC could very well be again this year.  McFarling also talked about why Sean Glennon is a bad fit for the offense (lousy offensive line) and that Tyrod's mobility should give Tech a better chance to win in this offense.

Rich and Larry opened up the phones and talked to some callers about the weekend's action, mostly VT however.  Rich was still stunned at how lousy the Defense looked, and threw out the stats about the long touchdown drives, the tons of yardage given up by the D, and the fact that VT did not get LSU 3 and out one time the entire night.  Larry claimed that LSU has one of the top 5 offenses in the country ... Rich not buying that.

Ryan O'Halloran of the Washington Times dropped by to talk a little Redskins as they jumped out to a 1-0 start after sneaking by the Dolphins in week 1.  Ryan said that if Clinton Portis can stay healthy, the team could have a decent year.  He also cautioned that everyone expected the Skins to start 1-0, so don't get too pumped up over the win.  Rich and Larry also first dive into the Belichick cheating scandal, as he is caught illegally videotaping the opposing coaches defensive signals by ManGenius.  Larry blows it off as no big deal ... however Double R claims astericks on all 3 of the Pats Superbowls ... not just the Tuck Rule one anymore.

Mike Tulemole of the East Valley Tribune checks in to preview the second Monday Night Football game tonite between the 49ers and the Cards.  Mike expects the 49ers to win, but thinks the Cards are on the right track ... however their defense could still be kind of suspect.  R&R wrap up the show talking about the weak state of the ACC ...AGAIN.  They also rail on UVA a little bit for its inability to put away Dook.
