Thursday on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... more details and promotion for the Pigskin Pick'em contest and the grand prize trip to Wild Dunes Resort. And Chan Gailey, Head Coach of the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets drops by to preview the game with UVA this weekend. Gailey rejected the notion that his team is one of the top teams in the ACC pointing to UVA's 2-0 conference record. Gailey also hoped that his Jackets would be able to bounce back strong after the tough loss handed to them by BC. Chris Ellis, DE for Virginia Tech was up next in the show and he touched on several different subjects including what VT still has to play for this year. He called the defense's performance against LSU embarrassing and said that thier goal is to still be the number 1 defense in the nation this year. With the entire ACC season and a shot at a conference title and BCS Bowl game still on the line ... Ellis believes the Hokies still have a lot to play for this season. Susan Degnan of the Miami Herald dropped by to preview the big Thursday Night matchup between Miami and Texas A&M. Susan was very down on the Hurricanes and said the defense had better play well because the offense is terrible for UM to have any shot against A&M. She picked the Aggies to win and said that it might take some time for Randy Shannon to build "The U" back up to where folks are expecting it to be. Rich and Larry had some fun with a couple of callers and die hard listeners of the show. Brad picked on Rich for a few minutes before Kurt checked in and begged Larry to "Guarantee" a Texas A&M win over Miami. Kurt of course, knows full well the power of a Legend "Guarantee", despite the fact that Larry promised to use his power for good rather than evil. Jimmy Laycock, head coach of the Tribe of William & Mary dropped by to recap the double OT win over Liberty and look ahead to Saturday's game against VT. Laycock credited the improvement on Liberty Mountain to LU aquiring transfers from bigtime programs and said that his goal now is to get W&M back to the top of Div 1-AA (yes we still use that term on The Sportsline!) and back into the playoffs. The Tribes offense is clicking, but pulling off another Appalachian St. might be asking a little bit much. |
