Doug Doughty, Hokie Gajan & Another Guarantee Gone Bad
Monday, 24 September 2007
Monday on The Sportsline with Rich and Larry ... the guys kick off the show with some opening thoughts on college football from the past weekend, including UVA's big win over Georgia Tech and the 3-0 start the Cavs are off to in the ACC.  Plus Larry's guy Charlie Weis is off to the worst start in the 119 year history of football at Notre Dame.

Doug Doughty of the Ronoake Times checked in to talk some Wahoo football.  Amazingly enough, after starting out talking about Southern Virginia College (i think!!) football, the topic turned to polygamy before they got around to talking about the Cavs.  Doughty said that the offensive line is beginning to gel behind Eugene Monroe and that is a big reason that Cedric Peerman is having such a good season.  8-4 is a possibility according to Doughty.

Kurt from Lynchburg checked back in to bash the Legend for yet another failed guarantee, as the Redskins went down hard to the Giants on Sunday at FedEx field.  Rich of course had the audio to back it up ... When will the Legend ever learn?

In hour number 2, R&R break into some NFL talk beginning with the Saints, but focusing mainly on the Chargers and the poor job that Norv Turner seems to be doing so far.  Rich and Larry both agree that Norv is a great coordinator but a lousy head coach ... and Larry even got Rich to admit that if he had know that Norv would be the guy, Marty Schottenheimer should never have been fired.

Saints Color Analyst Hokie Gajan checked in to preview the MNF game later on.  Gajan said that the Saints need to be a running team first to open up the passing game and get back to basics.  Another loss tonite and Gajan would have to consider last years run a fluke.
