KB & Ernest played a huge role in helping the Song Parody Contest (SPC) reach the level it is currently at, and deserve to be immortalized in The Sportsline Hall of Fame . . . if we had one. In 1998, the first year of the SPC, they were the last act to "perform" and blew us away with "The Blacksburg Hillbillies". It was quite superior to the other performances and took the contest to a new level. In a miscarriage of justice in 1999, they lost in a close vote (Larry's wife cast his vote in favor of the Wahoo Girls). They sat out the 2000 SPC in protest . . . but bounced back in 2001 with "Bowl in California" which to this day many still believe is the bar that all SPC contestants seek to reach. KB& Ernest have even submitted exhibition performances like "Beat It" in 2003 and "Wasting Away in Suffolk County Jail". They currently have the most SPC titles of anyone with 3 . . . not to mention the screwjob in 1999.
The guys grabbed yet another title ... sort of ... after a controversial tie with Jeff "The Boss" Maxwell in the 2006 Elite Division. It was a result that frustrated Double R and the Legend as much as the contestants ... all of whom felt they had won the contest. That sets up a great grudge match in 2007 with a strong comeback from Norm & The Recliners the competition in the Elite Division could be better than ever.
