Tonight was the night!! The finals of the 2005 Sports Line Trivia contest. I knew who my opponent was, a tough, scrappy little fellow that had no trouble "delivering the goods" during the early rounds of the contest. Greg Tomlin, better known to most of you as "The Comish" for the NASCAR Fantasy League. To me, he was just the one thing standing in the way of me and my prize, a brand new X-BOX 360, donated by Cole Candler of Candler Oil Company. The match began and things were not looking to good for me in the early going, I went down big, even my foe on the other phone line thought he was a shoe in for the win. Then it began, what I have come to call "The Comeback" I went on an amazing run of correct answers for big points and I stormed back to take the lead and then pile on more points. When it became clear I was going to win just because there weren't enough points left on the board for me to lose, the shenanigans began. Point values started to float and my buzzer seemed to have a glitch in it. But I stood firm and just concentrated on my goal. Then final Jeopardy. One last question stood between me and my destiny. And I answered it correctly. At that moment I was catapulted into a new category. Champion of the 2005 Sports Line Trivia Contest. Rich has never forgotten what Larry started when he allowed me to sneak in as the last contestant.
